This week we're chatting with Ben Smith who ran an epic 401 marathons in 401 days. Why 401? What prompted Ben to take on such a challenge when he’d only really just started out running fairly recently? Ben shares how running helped transform his life and provided a way for him to find happiness and greatly improve not only his physical but his mental health too. We’ll chat about some of the hardest parts of the challenge, the annoying injuries, his secret rice and chicken post-race fuel, the people he met and the lessons he learned.

Jackson's main area of research is on a subject called concurrent training. You might not have heard of concurrent training but it's something you are probably doing….without being aware of it. It is when you do some form endurance training and strength training in your training routine. If you lift weights and run or you class yourself as a runner who occasionally lifts weights, that's a form of concurrent training. There are a lot of myths about doing the two. We discussed if cardio will ruin your gains and if you do strength training, will it make you run slower or get too bulky? We talked about the benefits of doing both, if we should do them in the same session, if we should do one before the other.

This week we are chatting about eating disorders, body image and fitspiration with Rhiannon Lambert. You might remember Ross from Episode 85 when he came to chat about 30 marathons in 30 days along with various other crazy challenges that he's done. Ross is a bit of an adventurer and he likes to see how he can push the human body to its absolute limits. In this episode, we chatted about his new book (The World's Fittest Book: How To Train For Anything & Everything, Anywhere & Everywhere) which he talks about how he does training and all the things that he's learned from interviewing industry pioneers and various world champions. He also talked about hybrid training; how can you train for an endurance sport whilst getting stronger or how can you get faster but build muscle at the same time. It is an interesting episode because you'll learn how Ross managed to train for these crazy events that he swam for four hours non-stop once yet he looks like a powerlifter.

This week we are chatting with Greg McKeown – the author of the book Essentialism: The disciplined Pursuit of Less.
We’re going to be chatting about how to apply the concept of essentialism in your life so that your fitness and nutrition goals can become more attainable. Greg and I discussed how to prioritize, how to avoid getting distracted and pulled off target. He also explains why we should say “no” more so that we're actually able to focus on the things that are important.
When we are trying to lose weight, we get bombarded with conflicting messages: what type of diet should we follow, what are we going to do in the gym, what’s the best supplement to take. The problem with the information overloads is that we then start trying to do a hundred different things and we forget about the bigger picture. This episode will give you clarity and it should show you how to focus on the things that are important.
